Trap Mama: Easter + Spring Break Pt 1

With Easter the last week of March this year, we were home, instead of in Arizona, like we have been in previous years. We did a small Easter egg hunt in our backyard on Saturday, and decided that was good enough for us. I was appalled last year at the behavior of grown adults at the egg hunt we went to, and vowed that I wouldn't go to any more public hunts. They bring out the worst in people and are the exact opposite of what is really important. The kids didn't seem to mind. They were just happy to dye some eggs. Even though Carter looks like a special needs child, haha.

After Easter, we had one quick week to get ready for our trip to Arizona. It is always my favorite trip of the year with the kids, and this year was no exception. It's always a little bit different, even though we do most of the same things every year.

This year, Fred and Nancy, Brian, Chris and Sheri, Ryan and Laurie, and Greg and Noel came with their families, which was a ton of fun. The week started off pretty rocky, as the very first day we were there, Carter had an accident. He was running around the halls, not looking where he was going, and ran right into a cleaning cart, splitting his head wide open. Our home teacher had just remarked on Sunday that we had gone a long time without anyone needing stitches. Well, that went right out the window.

Luckily, Brian had a suture kit and Ryan has years of experience in the ER, so we didn't have to go to Instacare. Instead, we cleared off the dining table and set up an operating table.

Grandpa got involved fanning the Dermabond, after Ryan stitched up the inside layer. Laurie was a great nurse, and Brian was a great assistant/apprentice.

Before long, Carter was as good as new. And, blessedly, he could still swim!

Monday was our first swim day, and we all LOVED the beautiful, sunny weather and all the snacks we had poolside!

On Wednesday morning, Damon and Jeff went with the older boys to a DBacks game, and I took the girls and younger boys to see Zootopia. We all thought the recliner seats were awesome!

One of my favorite things about the Canyon Villas is how peaceful they are in the mornings. I loved getting up and going over to the fitness center before anyone was up. The pools always looked immaculate and I look forward to those mornings so much. That, and getting a good sweat on to start the day!

We also spent a lot of time hitting up all the activities the Marriott has to offer. There are so many family friendly things to do, and we took full advantage of them. One morning,we got to paint ceramic piggy banks.

McKay's cupcake, sadly, didn't make it back to the condo. Carter was carrying it on a plate and it fell and shattered on the ground. McKay is such an easy going kid, he took it in stride. I had painted an extra one, and I gave it to him.
